There are 2 kinds of sleep - REM & NREM.

During REM (Rapid eye movement) sleep, it can process unaddressed trauma seen and heard during the day. During NREM (Non rapid eye movement) sleep, it makes our immune strong.
Lack of quality REM sleep can lead to leptin thereby increasing obesity, toxic deposit of unresolved trauma and memory with cognitive issues.
